Life or Something Like it

Evolving
This is about me evolving...or at least trying to evolve by understanding the what and why fors of my life's experiences and every other thing I've ever read, observed, listened to or in some other way internalized and digested...whether I wanted to or not!

My Philosophy

So it goes like it goes, like the river flows And time it rolls right on And maybe what's good gets a little bit better And maybe what's bad gets gone

Windows & Mirrors

We all have a choice to make…
Will life just be about me? My dreams. My desires. My happiness. Or am I prepared to live a life that touches other people?
Will I change my perspective and stop looking at just myself?
This is where transformation can truly take place in an individual’s life: moving from a mirror to a window.

Mirrors - we look at.

We can have a mirror syndrome. How do I look? How are my clothes? Look at all my amazing accomplishments.

Windows - we look through.

We need more people to live with a window perspective. How can I help you? What can I do for someone else? How can my circumstances in life benefit others?
Too often we put ourselves at the centre, and use God as our genie when we need something. Yet Christianity is only truly lived out when we forget ourselves and love others.
You can make a difference in other people’s lives. It is your calling in life. Everyday you are surrounded by people. Make a difference. Make a decision. A choice. Start a new perspective today!

We all have a choice - will we spend all our time with a mirror perspective, or will we look outside of ourselves and have a window perspective?

Circumstances

If we examine every stage of our lives, we find that from our first breath to our last we are under the constraint of circumstances.
And yet we still possess the greatest of all freedoms, the power of developing our innermost selves in harmony with the moral order of the Universe, and so winning peace at heart whatever obstacles we meet.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Broken Dreams

Between you and me is a lifetime of pain
Kept hidden from all so that we can maintain
A semblance of sanity for broken dreams lost
How much does this role playing cost

Why do decisions we make in our youth
Bind us to burdens keep us from truth
Why can’t we move on let go and begin
to find ourselves again

Lost in a play where you hold my hand
I look in your eyes pretend that I am
The most priceless of gifts you’ve ever received
If only my heart could believe

Between you and me is a world unexplored
I’ve kept my scorecard and you’ve kept yours
Pretenders pretending a love that’s not there
Pretending that we really care

Between you and me we’ve nothing to give
Whatever was there no longer lives
The price to pretend is at too great a cost
Can we ever regain what we’ve lost

Lost in a play where you hold my hand
I look in your eyes pretend that I am
The most priceless of gifts you’ve ever received
If only my heart could believe

Between you and me is darkness and grief
More than we could ever perceive
Neither willing to step through the door
Releasing us to a life of much more

Between you and me it’s time to move on
Open the door both of us gone
Let go of the pain that both of us feel
Get on to a life that is real

Between You and Me is nothing it seems
We’re locked in our own broken dreams

Between You and Me

Between you and me there is a word, it’s never spoken, remains unheard
We walk carefully avoiding truth, side by side on this earth
Life continues to unwind, the moments written in our minds
At times are paths intertwine, the whisper loud… You’re wasting time
We mask ourselves continue blind, pretending, hoping to find
That one day, heart will speak to heart The word no longer keeps us apart
Our love is stronger than the word
At last our souls have been heard
